Tips for maintaining good personal hygiene

Remember to always thoroughly clean your hands before eating or after going to the bathroom. It seems obvious but sometimes, in a hurry or out of laziness, we do not do it, and this is a mistake. A proper hand washing with soap can prevent diseases such as pneumonia or diarrhoea, so it is essential to do it frequently and know what the best method to do it is.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) explains the proper steps for washing hands:

  1. You can wet your hands with clean water, either warm or cold, turn off the tap and apply soap.
  2. Rubbing hands with soap, making foam, joining palm to palm and then to the back of the hand, as well as between fingers and nails. This process should last at least 20 seconds.
  3. Rinse your hands under running water.
  4. Dry your hands entirely with a paper towel or under a dryer.

Cleaning and moisturize your skin, it is also a protective and grateful effect on your body. It is recommended that the shower is done daily, but this rule is not the same for children who have not yet reached adolescence. In the case of the smallest, from 6 to 11 years old, they should shower between once and twice a week and when they sweat or have bathed in a pool.

However, if you are traveling or facing water shortage issues, it will not be possible for you to shower on a daily basis. In that case, you should use waterless products like Clensta International waterless bath to maintain proper hygiene.

After the shower,

it is essential to dry very thoroughly, so as not to cause the appearance of fungi, caused by humidity. Once clean and well dry, we move on to hydration. This is a fundamental part to provide water to our skin, which needs it so much. You can do it once or more a day; it is advisable to do it early and late every day, depending on whether you have dry, mixed or oily skin.

To brush the teeth is another of the fundamental steps in the personal hygiene. A poorly maintained mouth brings many problems such as bad breath, loss of teeth, the appearance of caries or diseases such as periodontitis. It is prudent to brush your teeth after each meal, approximately three to five times a day, with particular emphasis in the morning and at night.

The feet also need special care in our hygiene, especially for people with diabetes, because they can prevent the appearance of ulcers on the feet.

The steps for correct cleanliness are:

  1. Clean your feet regularly with soap and water, affecting the space between your fingers.
  2. Dry the feet thoroughly with a towel, insisting again in between the fingers to prevent the appearance of cracks.
  3. Correctly moisturize the feet, in this case, do not apply the cream between the fingers.
  4. Always wear shoes that are comfortable and suitable for the shape of our feet.

It is also recommended to avoid walking barefoot in public places such as municipal swimming pools or shared bathrooms, to prevent the appearance of fungi.

Intimate hygiene

Avoiding infections, fungus or itching is essential. The woman should wash more than twice a day to avoid bacterial infections such as Escherichia coli. This can be done in the bidet or use the wipes, to do it more practically. For men, cleaning should be daily, to avoid possible infections.

Hair

The hair should be washed two or three times a week. It should also be cleaned daily in the case of people with the oily scalp, or the people who practice a lot of sport or sweat profusely.

Clean clothes

Clothing is like another layer of skin that also accumulates bacteria, both from our body and from outside.

In addition to underwear, which must be changed daily, it is advisable to change clothes frequently, especially after showering.

These are just some ways how to have good personal hygiene, but apparently, you have to take into account other concepts such as cleaning nails, eyes and more.
